# EBS - Elastic Block Store

EBS is the connected hard drives to your EC2 instances.

"Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) is an easy to use, high-performance, block-storage service designed for use with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) for both throughput and transaction intensive workloads at any scale. A broad range of workloads, such as relational and non-relational databases, enterprise applications, containerized applications, big data analytics engines, file systems, and media workflows are widely deployed on Amazon EBS." - AWS Website

Below you can see the volumes that you have in the side navigation of Commandeer.

EBS Side Navigation

If you drill into one of them, you will see any EC2 instance the might be connected to the volume. In this case, we have a rancher volume that is connected to a rancher EC2 instance.

If you then click on the dashboard item, you will see more detailed information about the volume.

We also allow you to view the volumes for each EC2 instance in the side navigation. This is one of the things that makes Commandeer so handy. As you are navigating your side navigation, you can always quickly jump to any interconnected parts of your system.

# Conclusion

EBS volume data is an important part of an EC@ based system. By being able to easily view this information, you can always see how your system is setup.
